Linux Virtual Private Server is cheap and has much more features in comparison to Windows Virtual Private Server. The reason for this is Linux being “open source”. As Linux is free software you will get the support only from some of the communities on the internet. Whereas, you will get the support for windows from the communities, websites as well as Microsoft as you are paying for the service. But, if you choose Linux, enough support is available on communities if you have some issues.
