Make sure that you have plenty of time and you have informed your clients about it as this will take some time. You can tell them that you are upgrading the server.

Most of the Virtual Private Servers are provided with the root access to the server and this is a great benefit as you will have more control over your websites and this makes Virtual Private Servers more reliable. You can also shut down the mail servers if you want to, during the transfer. The only problem is, if you are hosting the domains for others as a reseller than it will create a problem for you as passwords are required for this purpose. You will have to create the domains and the user accounts if you wish to move to the new server and you will also have to issue new passwords to your clients as you will not be able to access the passwords which are set by your clients.

If you have Plesk as control panel for your Virtual Private Server than the migration becomes easier due to a feature which is included in this software.”Migration Manager” is a great feature which supports the migration from remote servers using Plesk 2.5.x, 5.x, 6.x, and 7.x, as well as Confixx 2, Ensim 3.5.x, and cPanel 9. You will have to enter some information to use Migration Manager. This information includes the remote host address , the login name (normally root) and the password. You will also have to set set the remote system type (Plesk, cPanel, etc.). Once you have done this just click ‘Next’.

An agent will be sent by the Marketing Manager to the remote server and then a list of domains and clients on the remote server will be offered to you. The client data like the username and the password will be displayed if you will migrate a client. Also, the domains belonging to the client will be displayed. You will have to make a client account ready on the new server if you import a domain to take the ownership of the domain you have imported.

If you do everything correctly you will not face any problem while migrating the data through Migration Manager.

Important things to remember:-

1) Keep downtime to the minimum when you are migrating a server.

2) Make sure that you plan everything before you try to do this so that the users do not know that you have switched the server.

3) Try to perform a trial run before you try to migrate your server.

4) Also, do update your DNS as no one will see your new website if you do not do this. Edit the /etc/hosts file on your client and add your domain name (including the www) with the new IP address and restart your browser so that your new website will be visible. Once you have finished experimenting do not forget to remove this entry.

If you want to resell web hosting you might choose reseller hosting account for this purpose. As the name suggest, reseller hosting account provides you many features so that you can resell hosting and get some benefit out of it. You can also choose reseller hosting for your personal websites also if the specifications of the reseller hosting account are good for you. However, you can resell hosting with any package or server (except shared hosting account). VPS (Virtual Private Server) is a server which provides the client with almost all the features of a dedicated server. A dedicated server is separated with the help of a  virtualization software and VPS servers are made. VPS also provide the clients with the dedicated environment which is only provided with the dedicated servers. Also, VPS servers are provided with the root access to the server which is not provided with reseller hosting account. This is a very great benefit for the client as the client can make changes to the server according to him and this is not possible with reseller hosting account. If you go for VPS hosting then it is possible for you to resell hosting and you can do this easily. As the client is provided with the root access to the server client is able to manage the resources and hence can create accounts according to him.

VPS Hosting is provided with some resources and these resources can be used by the server itself and no other VPS on the server can use these resources. Reseller hosting accounts are also provided with some resources but in this case these resources can be used by other reseller hosting account on the same server. Also, it might be possible that your reseller account is setup on a shared server and this is the reason that reseller hosting accounts are not considered to be reliable enough as shared servers are not considered to be reliable. On the contrary, VPS is reliable enough as VPS act like a dedicated server for the client and even if there is an issue with any other VPS on the same dedicated server the other VPS are not affected by it. Even if the reseller account is hosted on the server where there are reseller accounts only then to it is not reliable as the reseller hosting providers host many clients under the same account due to which the server gets overloaded and might face downtime. Some of the hosting providers who have a reseller hosting package also oversell resources and this also causes problems to the server on which the reseller hosting account is setup. Some of the web hosting providers do not provide reseller hosting accounts on the servers due to the problems the server and the web hosting providers face if they have reseller hosting accounts on the servers. Also, web hosting providers do not hesitate to suspend the account of a reseller if they face any kind of problem with the account.

So, VPS has many benefits over the reseller hosting account. This is the reason that many of the resellers now prefer VPS over the reseller hosting account as VPS is reliable and also the features which are offered with reseller hosting account are much more in comparison to reseller hosting account.

When it comes to audio, video streaming make sure that this will require a high amount of bandwidth. Also, other resources of the server are to be used up when it comes to audio, video streaming. Audio, video streaming also requires good disk space so that you can have a good amount of audios and videos on your server. As the resources are being used by the visitors of the website, the resources used also depends upon the traffic of the website which can change and thus it is necessary to have some resources reserved so that the website does not face downtime due to the lack of resources.

As audio, video streaming requires a lot of resources it is necessary to have a good web hosting package or say a server with high amount of resources. This is the reason that audio, video streaming is not allowed on small or medium sized web hosting packages as they require a high amount of resources and if they will be allowed on small or medium sized web hosting packages they will overload the server and the server might crash. So if you wish audio, video streaming on your website than you will have to consider higher packages or say servers for this. If dedicated servers are not in your budget or you do not want to have one than the only option for you is a VPS.

VPS Hosting for Audio, Video streaming :-

VPS (Virtual Private Server) are the servers which are considered after dedicated servers. These servers provide the dedicated environment to the client. Some VPS servers are setup on a single dedicated server. So VPS servers are also a kind of shared server but they provide the features of the dedicated server to the client and this is a great benefit for the client. As a number of VPS servers are setup on the same dedicated servers the resources of the dedicated server are distributed among the servers and hence they get a part of the resources. If you wish to have a VPS server for audio, video streaming you can have it but this will be an experiment. As VPS servers only have a part of the resources of the dedicated server on which the VPS servers are hosted. So it might be possible that these resources are not enough for audio, video streaming. However, these resources might be enough for you if your website does not have many visitors on it. Also, if you are going for a VPS server for audio, video streaming then you should go for the highest specifications available for VPS servers so that you do not face any problem in future. The web hosting server you choose should be chosen according to your requirements. If you think that VPS server is the best option according to your requirements than you can go for it. Otherwise, the best option if you want to have audio, video streaming on your website will be a dedicated server.

VPS Hosting (Virtual Private Server) is considered to be the second reliable web hosting solution when it comes to hosting your website. The reason for this is the fact that in spite of being like a shared server it provides a dedicated environment to the client and this kind of server is not available until now. This is the reason that many of the clients choose VPS servers for hosting their website. A number of VPS servers are setup on the same dedicated server and some resources are alloted to the servers. So these servers are provided with the dedicated environment. Also, if there is an issue with any other VPS server on the same server where you have your own VPS, your VPS server will not be affected with this. This is one of the greatest benefit of the dedicated server. Also, no other client hosted on the same server will be able to utilize the resources which are alloted to you. So if you go for a VPS you are getting almost all the features of a dedicated server at an affordable cost.

Reliable VPS hosting service :-

If you are looking for a reliable VPS hosting service then the first step is to go for a company who has a good reputation in the market. Also, make sure that the company is not a reseller or you might face certain problems. When you ask for a VPS server always look for a company which provides 24×7 support through diffferent means of communication so that you can contact them at any point of time for support. Make sure that the staff is co-operative and provides you all the information you need so that you can ask them if you need any assistance. Also, if possible get some information from the clients of the company so that you get an idea about the service quality which will help you to find out a reliable VPS hosting service. Do ask about the network connectivity and the datacenter location as it is very important. Make sure that the speed of the website which is hosted by the same company is good enough for you and you can do this by asking for an example and if the company is a genuine one, they will provide you with the domain name or the IP address by which you can check the VPS server speed. Enquire about the number of times the servers provided by the company have faced downtime. It is suggested that you do not concentrate much on the cheaper rates as resellers or web hosting company which oversell the resources keep such lower prices for the web hosting packages and servers so that they can attaract them. So it is better that you should enquire about the rates of web hosting packages and servers so that you do not face any problems in future and you get a reliable VPS hosting service.

To create VPN on your VPS you will have to contact your web hosting provider and ask to enable “NAT” for your VPS. Once you have enabled it for your VPS go to,

Start >> RUN >> Type “services.msc”

Now,  select “Routing and Remote Access” on the services list and then go to properties. Now turn the start up type automatic and apply. “Start this service” will be the option displayed if you have done everything correctly. You will have to select this option as we will use this service to route our traffic.

Now go to,

Start >> Settings >> Control Panel >> Administrative Tools >>

“Routing and Remote Access” will be the shortcut. Click on this.

Configuration panel of Routing and Remote Access will be opened.

Right click on the computer and click this option “Configure and Enable remote and routing access”. Firewall service is stopped and disabled before doing this and you should check this before you try to do this.

Now on the configuration wizard click,

1) Next to proceed

2) In the configuration list select “Custom Configuration”, Press Next

3) Select VPN Access & NAT and Basic Firewall Option, Press Next again

4) Now press Finish to end the wizard

After doing this, PPTP & L2TP VPN access to your firewall should be enabled by this wizard and this should be enabled with private routing capability.

Now , private Traffic to the Public Interface should be routed and this could be done by configuring your VPS. To configure your VPS it is necessary to have any of the two mentioned things below :-

a. Two network interface to route one to another.

OR

b. You can use NAT (Network Address Translation) using the Microsoft Loopbac

adapter.

The second one which is mentioned above is to be worked with as most of the you might not find VPS Hosting with two network interfaces.

Now proceed with the “NAT” configuration with the steps below,

1) go to the Routing and Remote Access panel

2) Expand ComputerName (Local)

3) Expand Ip Routing

4) You should find a option says “NAT/Basic Firewall”

5) Right click on  “NAT/Basic Firewall”

6) To add the network translation use the New interface

“Internal” is the interface that you should add first. This interface is basically for private network access with default settings. Add your main adapter to the NAT list on second attempt and select.

After all this is done select the option “Public Interface connected to this inferface”.

Last option to be selected is “Enable NAT on this interface”.

Address translation should be working on your network now. Your private requests should now be translated and you can use this VPN as your internet gateway.

Allow the Dial In permission after adding a new user from properties if you want to allow the users to use VPN.

User should be able to login using VPN with the Dial-In permission.

If you have a website on the internet you will have to select a web hosting package for hosting your website. VPS Hosting is a kind of server which provides you a dedicated environment. VPS is one of the most well known forms of web hosting. When you select VPS or any other type of server for hosting your website than you will have to mention some Nameserver for your website.

Nameserver can be defined as the computers accessible on the Internet which explains the location of the website. Resolving is the process which is done by Nameservers. During this process, the domain name of the website is taken and with the help of the Domain Name System (DNS) which keeps the data of the domain names and the corresponding IP addresses, the IP (Internet Protocol) address corresponding to the domain name is given. The location of the website on the internet is determined by the IP address and this is also called as Nameservers. It is also known as DNS servers as they perform the same function (Return the IP address for the domain when a domain name is given). When you buy or configure a Domain name for your website you will have to provide the names of the namesservers as this is very important. When you go for a web hosting package for your website your web hosting provider will ask you for the names of these nameservers. Also, these nameservers are of two types, one is the Primary Nameservers and the other is the Secondary Nameservers.

Primary server:-

You will have to enter the host name and the IP number of the name server in the column given registrant of your domain and this will contain the authoritative information of the domain name and this will be used to resolve that domain name to the corresponding IP address of the domain name. This is know as primary name server as this will be used first to resolve the domain name and the name server which will be entered after this will be considered after this name server. If this column is not filled, the domain name registrar will not proceed further with the process of registering the domain name as this is one of the most important section of the agreement.

Second level domain:-

These domains are considered to be the most important after the top level domains. For example, 1stDomain.com – the “1stDomain.com” part is the second level domain. These domains are registered under the top level domain registry.

VPS (Virtual Private Server) is one of the most trusted forms of web hosting. VPS is a kind of shared hosting but provides you with a dedicated environment. Security is one of the most important points when one chooses a server for hosting his sites. This is the reason for so many anti-virus software’s are in the market currently. When choosing a server one should always make sure that the Web hosting provider has good anti-virus software for the server. If you have a shared server than it is not at all possible to rely on the server and it is not even possible to install anything on the server from your side. So if you have a website which needs security you will have to consider a VPS Hosting or a dedicated server.

This is also possible if you have a VPS server for hosting your websites. As the servers have some operating system which is already installed on the server you will have to search for anti-virus software which is supported by your operating system. As these servers will have Linux or Windows operating systems you will have look for an anti-virus which is supported by these operating systems. Apart from the anti-virus software you can do some other things which will make your server more secured. If you have Windows VPS server than you can easily make your server more secured. Some of the steps mentioned below will help you to make your Windows VPS server more secured.

Ms-windows_logo How to optimize security of Windows VPS

First you will have to logon to your Windows VPS server with the help of Remote Desktop. Once you have done this you have to enable its Windows Firewall. After this you will have to select the following:-
