What is VPS Hosting?

Dedicated server is a server which is dedicated server or say given to one single client. Dedicated server is also called as private server for the same reason. There is no other client having an account on the same server. Client has the root access to the server and can perform the task he wants to perform on the server with ease. In short, Dedicated server is kind of a server which is owned by the client. The resources which are given with the server belongs and can only be used by the client. Also, if the resources which are offered with the server are more than enough for the client then he can give the resources to anyone he wants to. So, Dedicated server can also be used by resellers and is a better option in comparison to reseller hosting. As the client has full access to the server he can install any software or programs he wants to and can make any changes in them if he wants to. If we compare VPS server with a Dedicated server than the main difference is the resources which are being offered with the server. As VPS server is a kind of shared server you will get only a part of the physical server and its resources. Whereas, in a Dedicated server you will get the whole physical server and the resources of the server for your own. But, as you get the resources of the whole server for your own you will have to pay for the entire server. This is one of the disadvantages of the Dedicated server as the cost of the entire server is quite high as compared to the cost of the VPS server and this is due to the fact that in a VPS server you are paying only for the part of the server and not the entire server. Also, as the Dedicated server entirely belongs to you, it is quite difficult to manage the server until and unless you have the proper knowledge to manage the server. Dedicated server requires a very good knowledge and technical skills in comparison to the VPS server. So if you have a good knowledge, technical skills and you can afford a Dedicated server than you can go for it.
